Is this the Front Range’s best frozen waterfall hike? You’ll have to try it for yourself and let me know! This trail is a fantastic winter adventure, offering a mix of snowy terrain, peaceful forest views, and, of course, a stunning frozen waterfall. With multiple access points, you can switch up your route even when revisiting, making it a great repeat hike for your pack.

Trail Overview

  • Location: Evergreen, CO

Route Breakdown

This loop trail provides a scenic and relatively easy trek through pine forests, with the highlight being Maxwell Falls. I took the route from the Upper Trailhead this time to keep things interesting! Traffic levels can vary—some days are calm, while others are busy with fellow adventurers.

Why You'll Love It

  • Frozen Waterfall Views: A magical sight in winter!

  • Varied Routes: Multiple trailheads and paths allow for new experiences on repeat visits.

Snow’s Take

A snowy trail AND a waterfall? That’s a winning combination! I love how this hike gives me room to roam while keeping things interesting with different access points. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning explorer, Maxwell Falls is a must-hike in winter—just don’t forget your traction (or my snacks)!
