When the human gets off work early, this doggo gets to adventure! If you’re looking for a quick but rewarding hike, Lichen Peak is the perfect option—especially if you’re racing the sun. Even with some rough I-70 traffic, my pack made it just in time to summit, take a seat, and enjoy a stunning sunset. Watching the sun dip behind the mountains while gazing out over the Denver skyline? That’s a tail-wagging good time!

Route Breakdown
The first part of this hike is steep—gaining 430 feet in just 0.6 miles—but it’s short enough that you can always take breaks along the way. We saw hikers of all ages tackling the climb at their own pace. The summit offers incredible panoramic views, making it well worth the effort.
