Who says you can't have a winter wonderland all to yourself? If you’re ready for a peaceful hike with beautiful frozen waterfalls and scenic trails, Helen Hunt Falls in Colorado Springs is an absolute must! This place looks like something straight out of a snow pup’s dream, especially when covered in snow. Plus, with fewer humans around in the winter, it's the perfect time to explore this magical spot.

Route Breakdown

This 3.25-mile loop takes you on a mix of scenic trails, with some sections covered in snow (perfect for that winter hike feeling!). The trail winds through peaceful landscapes and alongside a stream, offering the perfect opportunity to stop for a sip or two—my favorite part! As you approach the falls, the snow can make the trail a little slick, so traction is recommended. The reward at the end? The stunning, frozen Helen Hunt Falls that are even more spectacular in the winter months!

Why You'll Love It

  • Winter Magic: Helen Hunt Falls is absolutely breathtaking when frozen, with icicles hanging from the rocks and snow-covered surroundings.

  • Peace & Quiet: Fewer hikers during the winter means you'll have the trails all to yourself!

  • Scenic Trails & Streams: The quiet trails along a stream make for a peaceful and relaxing hike.

Snow's Take

I absolutely LOVED this winter hike! The frozen waterfalls were just mesmerizing, and with hardly anyone around, I felt like I had the whole place to myself! The snow-covered trails were perfect for my winter paws, and I got to sip from the stream along the way. If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic winter hike with a frozen waterfall reward, this one’s a must. Plus, you get to enjoy the beauty of Colorado without the summer crowds!
