Elephant Butte in Evergreen, Colorado, is beautiful any time of year, but after a snowstorm, it transforms into a true winter wonderland, and the reward at the summit makes it all worth it.

Route Breakdown
This trail took us through fresh, deep snow, and we had to blaze our own path. The hike was tough, and the snow made it feel like we were forging new ground with every step. The trail features a steady ascent, but the difficulty of the snow added an extra challenge. Once we reached the summit, though, we were rewarded with breathtaking views and the peacefulness of having the top all to ourselves—such a quiet, serene moment!

Snow's Take
I was pretty sure I could handle this hike—after all, I’m a Snow Pup! But even I had to admit, the deep snow made it a lot tougher than I expected. That said, the effort was absolutely worth it. The winter wonderland views and the solitude at the summit made it one of my most rewarding hikes. If you plan to go after a snowstorm, make sure to bring snowshoes (they helped a ton!) and take plenty of breaks to stay fueled and enjoy the peacefulness of this beautiful trail. Just remember to pace yourselves and bring treats for your pup—you’ll both need the energy!
