Did I just find the most gorgeous views of Pike National Forest? This adventure took me through quiet stretches of forest, up steady climbs, and finally to an overlook that stopped me right in my paw prints. From Eagle’s View Trail, you can spot the mighty Pikes Peak standing tall in the distance—a summit view worth every step.
Trail Overview

Distance: 2.5 miles
Ascent: 1,090 feet
Trail Type: Loop

Route Breakdown
The trail begins with gentle forest paths, giving you a chance to settle in before the climb. As you gain elevation, the trees open up to sweeping views of the surrounding Pike National Forest. The highlight, of course, is reaching Eagle’s View Overlook, where Pikes Peak comes into sight, rising above the horizon like a postcard backdrop.
The loop winds you back through peaceful stretches of evergreen, offering a nice mix of challenge and recovery along the way.
Why You'll Love It
Epic Views of Pikes Peak: Few trails this close to Denver deliver such clear, jaw-dropping views of Colorado’s most famous 14er.
Forest + Summit Combo: Enjoy shady forest trails paired with wide-open vistas.
Close to the City: Just a short drive from Denver, making it an easy day trip.
Snow's Take
I love when a hike surprises me, and Eagle’s View did exactly that. One minute I was trotting through calm forest trails, and the next I was staring at a view so big it made me want to wag nonstop. If your pup loves variety—shade, sunshine, climbs, and views—this trail has it all. Just bring some traction if you’re hiking in winter or early spring, because those downhill patches of ice can be slippery for both humans and paws!
